Rick Christman

My name is Dr. Rick Christman, Sr. I am currently the Assistant Provost and Vice President for Academics and Student Services here at Ohio Christian University. I am a graduate of God's Bible School and College in Cincinnati, earning a Bachelor of Religious Education (B.R.E.), and I am a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University, earning two Master’s degrees; an M.A. in Advanced Leadership Studies and an M.A. in Ministry. Additionally I earned my Doctorate in Education (Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership) from Indiana Wesleyan University. I have spent nearly ten years in higher education, both as a professor and administrator and over 20 years of ministry in the Wesleyan Church. Additionally, I spent a number of years in the printing industry, ending my tenure as the plant manager of Foster Business Forms and Foster Commercial Press in Columbus, Ohio.

I am grateful for the relationships and opportunities God has granted me throughout my life. My life verse is "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint" Isaiah 40:31. We have three children; Ricky Jr., who is serving full time in the United States Army. He is married to Bonnie and they have three sons, Haden (11) Preston (8), and Gage (4) and a new born daughter, Aubrey. Our daughter Julia Sorley, who is the Coordinator of Rez Life here at OCU, is married to Reece and they have a son, Rowen, who is 2.5 years old and daughter, Wrynley Mae, who is 1.5 years old, and a newborn son named Ryker. Andrew, our youngest son, is currently a junior here at OCU and is married to Ashley who is a new graduate of OCU. They have a daughter they have named Addyson. Andrew is also in the military, serving as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the Army Reserves

My family and I enjoy adventurous vacations, attending sporting events, and Friday night movies. We are very close knit and have very open, candid conversations, especially at meal time. Above all else, I am a Christian. My experience with religion has not been impressive, but my encounter with Jesus Christ has been life changing. It is my intent to change the world, not just in a global sense, but the world in which I live through my leadership and teaching skills.
